Capture picture perfect moments

We all want to capture that picture perfect moment but don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a photographer or a fancy DSLR camera. Well guess what, you don’t have to because you can take pro photos with your smartphone! We’ve put together just a few tips to help you along..

Get the right light

What is the right light & how do we find it? Natural lighting is perfect, as long as it’s not harsh direct sunlight. Sunrise or sunset light is the best for subjects as it cast shadows behind the subject adding depth to the photo and it also adds a warm tone which is a beautifying effect. Alternatively, window lighting is great because it has direction and it is often soft and diffused.

Remember the rule of thirds

Sounds boring right? Well it is actually a very useful technique to follow! With the rule of thirds, imagine the picture is divided up by thirds both horizontally and vertically. Most smartphone cameras have a grid option with displays this for you. Placing your subject along the lines or at the intersections makes the photo more visually interesting instead of just being smack in the middle of the frame.

Multiple shots contain the best shot

Don’t you hate it when you take a picture, only to find out later that it was out of focus or you moved and it was blurred? Don’t be afraid to take multiple shots, that way you can choose the best picture later on. Did you know most smartphones now have a burst feature that takes captures dozens of photos in a matter of seconds!

Pop of colour

When shooting a subject make sure that the colours of the area around it complement and don’t clash. A good way to know what colours work together is to have a look at the colour wheel. Colours that are opposite each other contrast well & make each other stand out..
